Czechia short-term rental regulation and SDEP status

What this means

eTurista is an official Czech register of accommodation facilities, units used for accommodation, and accommodated guests, intended to bring platform-based short-term rental into the same registration and guest-reporting framework as hotels and guesthouses.

The portal is currently presented as a test environment, the enabling tourism-law amendment has not yet entered into force, and no public SDEP interface is available.

The Ministry for Regional Development states, in the information required by Article 13(1)(a) and (b) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1028, that Czechia currently applies no registration procedure anywhere in its territory and does not require activity data from short-term rental platforms in any area.

Implementation status

The Ministry for Regional Development presents eTurista as a public-administration register that consolidates accommodation registration and guest-reporting duties.

The ministry adds that the amendment to Act 159/1999 is prepared for deliberation in the Chamber of Deputies, and it has since been tabled as Chamber of Deputies print 107 (submitted 10 February 2026), with its first reading scheduled at the 34th session from 13 October 2026 and no further stage recorded as of 28 October 2026. Internal testing of the basic eTurista functions is under way, and a development phase is planned once Parliament approves the amendment; the Article 13 information notes that the position can change in future.

Local accommodation-fee and guest-reporting obligations remain important practical context for the national registration workflow.

Technical interface

No public Czechia-specific SDEP OpenAPI documentation, source code, sandbox, or platform onboarding process is currently available.

Future checks should focus on when the register becomes operational and whether eTurista exposes platform-facing registration-number validation or activity-reporting interfaces.
