Latvia short-term rental regulation and SDEP status
Latvia has amended its Tourism Law to bring short-term rental dwellings within the tourist-accommodation definition, but no public SDEP/API documentation is currently available.
What this means
Latvia has publicly signalled a plan to establish short-term rental regulation and a short-term rental accommodation register.
The Ministry of Economics linked the proposal to reducing the shadow economy and to the EU short-term rental data-collection and data-sharing initiative.
Implementation status
Parliament adopted amendments to the Tourism Law on 11 June 2026, in force from 10 July 2026, that add publicly bookable accommodation dwellings to the tourist-accommodation definition and require accommodation guest-data recording.
Public material frames the need to define STR specifics and operating requirements alongside a register.
Technical interface
No Latvia-specific SDEP OpenAPI documentation, source code, sandbox, registration-number validation API, or platform onboarding process is currently available.
Future monitoring should check whether Latvia turns the register plan into a national service and whether it publishes platform-facing interfaces.
