Portugal short-term rental regulation and SDEP status
Portugal has a live Alojamento Local registration workflow and RNAL identifier base. Public SDEP/API documentation is not currently available.
What this means
Portugal requires Alojamento Local establishments to be registered before operation.
The official gov.pt service allows registration online or at the municipality where the establishment is located.
Implementation status
After registration, operators must submit proof of civil liability insurance for the Alojamento Local establishment.
The SIBA accommodation-bulletin system states that Alojamento Local units must indicate the National Register of Alojamento Local number.
Municipal rules remain important because the registration service is location-specific and can depend on the municipality.
Technical interface
Portugal has a national RNAL identifier base and a SIBA accommodation-bulletin reporting system.
No Portugal-specific Regulation 2024/1028 SDEP OpenAPI documentation, source code, sandbox, registration-number validation API, or online-platform onboarding process is currently available.
Future SDEP implementation may connect RNAL identifiers, municipal registration status, platform listings, and guest/accommodation reporting.
