Slovakia short-term rental regulation and SDEP status
Slovakia enacted Act 133/2026 establishing a short-term-rental unit register and unified digital contact point, effective 1 January 2027.
What this means
Act 133/2026 establishes a public register of units providing short-term accommodation and assigns operation of the unified digital contact point to the Ministry of Tourism and Sport.
The law covers accommodation rented for less than one year, including units offered through online platforms.
The register is due to open on 1 January 2027, and hosts already offering short-term accommodation have a transitional period to register until 28 February 2027; a registration number is required to publish an offer on a platform.
Implementation status
The enacted law requires registration of each unit and sets duties for hosts and online platforms, with the new framework effective from 1 January 2027.
Technical interface
No Slovakia-specific SDEP OpenAPI documentation, source code, sandbox, registration-number validation API, or online-platform onboarding process is currently available.
The register also performs the unified digital contact-point function, but no live endpoint or public platform onboarding contract is currently documented.
