What this means

Sweden has no confirmed national short-term rental registration workflow.

Current practical rules are mostly adjacent: landlord/BRF permission, tax, VAT/business classification, DAC7 platform reporting, and ordinary tenancy/subletting rules.

Implementation status

A Swedish Government fact memo said Sweden did not have a registration requirement for short-term rentals at the proposal stage.

The memo framed the EU proposal as applying when Member States decide to introduce transparency or registration requirements.

Technical interface

No Swedish SDEP platform, OpenAPI docs, public source-code repository, or national registration-number validation API is currently available.

Open questions include whether Sweden will introduce a national registration requirement and which authority would own the register/SDEP.
