What an SDEP API does

A Single Digital Entry Point can expose machine-to-machine endpoints for platform authentication, regulated-area discovery, registration-number validation, activity-data submission, authority retrieval, and operational monitoring.

Public technical maturity varies. Some countries publish legal obligations or portals before publishing developer onboarding material, OpenAPI schemas, sandboxes, or reference implementations.

Common implementation topics

Platforms and vendors usually need to model authentication, role-based access, registration identifiers, property addresses, regulated areas, rental periods, guest counts, listing URLs, bulk submission rules, error handling, resubmission, and audit records.

Public reference case

The Netherlands currently provides the clearest public technical reference case, with visible SDEP API documentation and the SEMICeu reference implementation. The visible Dutch API surfaces include common, auth, competent-authority, and platform-facing STR endpoints.
